My favorite homemade guacamole recipe is kicked up a major notch with some everything bagel seasoning. It’s a simple mix-in that makes a big diff. ? (This post contains affiliate links.)
Ok, I couldn’t resist sharing just one more “everything” recipe with you this summer.
(Then I promise I’ll go back to other seasonings for awhile! ?)
It’s just that this everything bagel seasoning is killin’ it in my kitchen this summer — kicking so many of my usual faves (here’s lookin’ at you, Baked Chicken Breasts, Garlic Lovers’ Salmon, Perfect Baked Potatoes, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, and Classic Hummus) up a major notch. I’ve even tried adding it to my favorite crunchy granola recipe, which made it weirdly savory and good — who knew?!
That said, if you have yet to try experimenting with a batch of the homemade seasoning (or you can also buy the Trader Joe’s version, if you’d like a shortcut), I can’t recommend it enough. And when you do, I am now firmly convinced that this recipe above is the very first one you must try. That’s right.
“Everything” Guacamole is where it’s at, guys. ?? ?? ??
I mean, seriously, bagels are all well and good. But I’m convinced that it’s actually avocados and “everything” seasoning that are the truest match made in heaven. Together they are 500% irresistible!!
Especially when it comes to guacamole. ?
I’ve been regularly mixing up batches of my Perfect Guacamole once or twice a month for years, and have admitted on here that 9 times out of 10, I usually prefer to keep it “classic” without any extra add-ins. But man, ever since I tried adding in a few tablespoons of the “everything” seasoning a few weeks ago (which many of you spotted on IG), I’ve stuck with it ever since.
Because unlike adding in chunky fruit or nuts or peppers, the seasoning doesn’t really change the texture of the guac at all. But it does subtly add a delicious garlic-sesame kick that makes all of those savory flavors come alive. And then inevitably makes everyone dive back in stat for another dip.
So here’s how to make it!
Just toss all of your classic guacamole ingredients together in a large bowl, minus the salt. (Different “everything” seasoning blends include varying levels of salt, so I recommend adding that in afterwards only if it’s needed.) Mash the avocados up a bit first on one side of the bowl. Then stir everything together until it’s nice and combined. Taste, and season with salt and/or extra “everything” seasoning if needed.
Then sprinkle a little extra on top for presentation…
Seriously, I’ll warn you right now that this stuff is irresistible in the absolute best of ways. Perfect for dipping, or adding onto burgers, or stuffing into tacos or enchiladas or quesadillas or taquitos, or spreading on toast, or whatever else might sound good. You really can’t go wrong here.
Yield: 6-8 servings
My favorite guacamole recipe is kicked up a notch with savory “everything” seasoning. Feel free to add the seasoning in to taste.
- 3 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted and mashed
- 1 jalapeño, stem and seeds removed, minced (add more or less to taste)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons “Everything” Seasoning Blend, lightly toasted*
- Kosher salt, if needed
- Stir together, jalapeno, onion, lime juice, cilantro, and “everything” seasoning blend with a fork until well combined. Taste, and season with a pinch of two of salt (and/or more “everything” seasoning) if needed.
- Serve immediately, or cover the bowl with plastic wrap (so that the plastic is literally touching the entire top layer of the guacamole) and refrigerate for up to 2 days before serving.
*If using my homemade “Everything” Seasoning Blend, I recommend giving it a quick toast in the oven or in a skillet on the stove before mixing it into the guacamole to help bring out the flavors. Just spread it out on a small baking sheet and bake at 350 for 10 minutes, or until fragrant. (Keep an eye on it so that nothing burns.) Or toast the seasoning in a skillet over medium heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant.
**Feel free to also add in 1 roma tomato, cored and diced, if you’d like. I’m not a big fan of tomatoes in my guac, but know that some people love ’em! So if that’s you, go for it. 🙂
