These Boozy Pineapple Dole Whips are an adult version of a Disneyland favorite! This Disney parks copycat tastes almost identical to the Dole Whips in the park but can be made at home and with a twist!
Y’all, I don’t know where you live, but it is already heating up here in Sacramento.
I’m constantly amazed (though I’m not sure why) when each year it gets increasingly hotter earlier and earlier. I mean, we’re just in April for crying out loud! Cut it out with the 90 degree heat!
(Maybe I’m just salty because I’m a winter baby living in a hell-on-Earth location and the pool at my apartment complex is currently down).
And I’m trying to be ultra vigilant about sunscreen but I’m human and sometimes I forget… which leads me to get burned 10x faster with minimal outdoor time. Yesterday I was at a bridal shower that was primarily outdoors. I sat and ate at a gorgeous table in the sun for maybe 20 minutes, and when I went inside to the reprieve of sweet, sweet A/C, I realized my entire right arm was basically lobster red. Only the right one though, because Mother Nature has a sense of humor and wants me to look absolutely ridiculous with one lobster arm and one ghostly pale one.
But, the upside to the warmer weather means cool and refreshing drinks and desserts. You guys know I am all about no-bake treats in the summer (and those are coming!) but I really wanted to start the week off with these outrageously delish Boozy Pineapple Dole Whips!
I posted my original Dole Whip recipe way back when but wanted to revive it from the archives with this updated boozy version. You can of course omit the alcohol completely for a kid-friendly option, but who would wanna do that? 😉
What I love about these are how EASY they are to make, and how they do not require special equipment other than a blender or food processor. No ice cream maker needed which is a lifesaver because who needs ANOTHER appliance lying around? Not I!
The ingredients for these Dole Whip copycats are crushed pineapple, fresh lime juice, pineapple vodka, a little sugar, and frozen Cool Whip of all things! The Cool Whip gives it the creaminess we know and love from Disney’s Dole Whips. However, if you do not like Cool Whip, you may use vanilla ice cream or pineapple sherbet!
While these taste great right out of the blender, I prefer them slightly frozen – I have found that about 2 hours in the freezer yields the perfect soft-serve-like consistency, turning this from a smoothie texture to a thicker soft serve (though not as stable as the one out of a froyo shop obviously!).
I just love how these can be customizable, too. Don’t like Cool Whip? Use pineapple sherbet or vanilla ice cream. Don’t care for vodka? Use rum (yum! Coconut rum would give off a delish pina colada vibe!).
Ultimately though, you need to promise me you’ll try these in all their original, beautiful, perfect glory. Then thank me later!
Boozy Pineapple Dole Whips
Author: Hayley Parker, The Domestic Rebel
Recipe type: Frozen Desserts
These Boozy Pineapple Dole Whips are a fun copycat spin on the Disney favorite! Made in minutes, they are a great party drink/dessert and perfect for a hot day!
- Two (20 oz) cans crushed pineapple, undrained
- 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
- Juice of one lime
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 & ¼ cups pineapple vodka (may substitute with rum; coconut rum would be fantastic!)
- One (8 oz) tub Cool Whip, frozen (may substitute with vanilla ice cream or pineapple sherbet)
- In a blender, add in the crushed pineapple, granulated sugar, lime juice, and vanilla extract if using. Blend for about 30 seconds until combined. Add in the vodka and Cool Whip, breaking apart the Cool Whip if needed, and blend again for about 1-2 minutes or until smooth and combined.
- Divide among 3-4 glasses (this recipe made 3 mason jars) and serve immediately, OR if you prefer a thicker, soft-serve-like texture, freeze for up to 3 hours before serving.
I mean, look at that texture! Smooth, sweet and perfect for summer!
Have a super sweet day!
